Penn Forum in New York to Examine How the Urban Environment Impacts Women’s Health
WHAT: “Healthy Cities: Healthy Women,” a forum on how the health of women, the health impact of living in an urban environment and the practice of public health intersect.
The conference will explore the impact of urban violence on the health of women, improving urban communities through the empowerment of women, designing cities with a gender perspective to make them universally safer and effective policymaking and advocacy for urban women and girls.

Amy Gutmann, president of the University of Pennsylvania, who will discuss the proceedings of the 5th Global Colloquium of University Presidents where Ban Ki-moon, secretary general of the United Nations, spoke on the need for and challenges to empowering women across the globe
Nicholas Kristof, a New York Times columnist and Pulitzer-prize winning author
Andrea Mitchell, NBC News chief foreign affairs correspondent and host of "Andrea Mitchell Reports"

DETAILS: Leaders from the fields of health care, urban planning and public health will explore ways to improve practice and policy to address the unique health challenges of women who live in cities.
Hosts include Penn’s School of Nursing, the Penn Alumni Relations office and the Trustees’ Council of Penn Women. BlackRock Women’s Initiative Network is the conference sponsor.

The effectiveness of this approach has led some countries and states to expand or consider expanding the role of dental providers in delivering routine vaccines, including those against COVID-19 and the human papillomavirus (HPV), and in providing vaccine education.
Penn student develops a way for computer chips to run more efficiently
Fluid Silicon, a platform from President’s Sustainability Prize winner Nhlanhla Mavuso, allows computer chips to continuously monitor their health and self-tune as their characteristics change. The technology has the potential to reduce energy usage in data centers and improve reliability in mission-critical applications.
